Accidentally overwriting a master Photoshop design file, complex financial Excel spreadsheet, or 3D project file with an unfinished draft can cause instant panic. Many users assume that because the file was replaced, the previous version is lost forever. Fortunately, Google Drive maintains a powerful, automatic Manage Versions history system for non-Google files.
In the Google Drive web interface: right-click the overwritten file > select "File information" > click "Manage versions". Google Drive stores up to 100 historical revisions (or 30 days of changes) for every binary file (PSD, ZIP, PDF, DOCX, XLSX). Click the three dots next to the previous version timestamp and select "Download" or "Revert" to restore your work instantly.
