Unlike containerized video formats (MP4, MOV), CinemaDNG records raw digital sensor data as an image sequence: every single second of 24fps video consists of 24 individual high-resolution DNG photo files accompanied by sidecar audio WAV files. A 15-minute camera take generates over 21,600 separate files. Uploading thousands of tiny individual files through Google Drive's web interface causes severe API rate throttling and folder corruption.
Never upload unbundled image sequences directly to cloud storage. Instead, package each camera take into an uncompressed TAR or split ZIP container using tar -cf - take_01/ and stream the continuous stream directly into Google Drive via SaveInDrive. This consolidates 25,000 small files into a single high-speed stream, accelerating transfer speeds by up to 1,200%.
