Collaborative remote video editing has transitioned from a temporary trend into standard industry practice. However, a complete DaVinci Resolve Project Archive (.DRA) bundle—containing the SQLite project timeline, LUTs, multicam syncs, audio stems, and raw 6K/8K BRAW or RED RAW camera rushes—routinely exceeds 100GB to 500GB. Moving these mammoth bundles across editors without corrupting nested folder trees requires specialized cloud architecture.
Never upload an uncompressed .DRA folder directly through a web browser: nested millions of tiny render cache files will choke browser DOM trees. Instead, strip transient render caches before export, bundle the project into uncompressed TAR or split ZIP volumes, and stream the archive directly to Google Drive using SaveInDrive's server pipeline or multi-threaded cloud transfer daemons with checksum verification.
Step 1: Pruning Dead Weight from the Resolve Project
Before archiving, open DaVinci Resolve:
- Navigate to Playback > Delete Render Cache > All. Render cache files can account for 60% of folder weight and can easily be regenerated on the colorist's machine in minutes.
- Select File > Project Manager, right-click the project, and choose Export Project Archive (.dra). Check "Media Files" but uncheck "Proxy Media" and "Render Cache".
